Undergraduate Admission

Non-Degree & Second Bachelor

Not looking to get a degree?
Looking to get a second one?

Either way, this page is for you.

Non-Degree

You're considered a non-degree student for admission purposes if you don't intend to complete a degree at WSU and are taking coursework for personal enrichment, to transfer to another college, or for a teaching endorsement.

If you're not seeking a degree, there are a few limitations on financial aid and graduate study:

  • Non-degree students aren't eligible for financial aid.
  • If you decide to pursue a degree at WSU, you have to apply for regular admission status.
  • Course work completed as a non-degree student can't be applied toward a graduate degree, and you can't enroll in 500-level business classes or in courses at the 600, 700, or 800 level.

How to apply

You're not required to have an advisor approve your registration, but we strongly recommend that you contact the Center for Advising and Career Development (CACD) to talk with an advisor for advice about the best classes to take and how to register.

Second Bachelor's Degree

You're considered a post-bachelor's degree student for admission purposes if you have already earned a bachelor's degree from a school other than Washington State University.

How to apply

  • Complete a post-bachelor's admission application
  • Request official transcripts from all colleges you have attended. (If your course work at your current college isn't complete, you'll also need to have a final transcript sent to WSU.) Colleges should send transcripts directly to WSU:

Some degree programs (business, architecture, engineering, and communication, for instance) require prerequisites beyond the standard general education requirements. Contact the academic department to find out if you'll need to meet additional requirements before taking courses in your major.

Note: This is a guide to the admission process, not a statement of policy. See the WSU General Catalog for official requirements and regulations.
